St Moritz is 5624 ft above sea level in the center of Upper Engadine. St. Moritz is considered the most exclusive winter resort of Switzerland which is frequented by the affluent, elegant and cosmopolitan. The climate is one of the crowd pullers with the sun shining for 322 days every year.

The best time to visit St. Moritz is between April and end of August when you can experience a mild climate, but if you would like to go for skiing and sledging then the period between January and March are ideal. This place reeks of exorbitant prices, fashion conscious and glamour.

Dining areas

The highly recommended restaurant is Lapin Bleu which is housed in the ground floor of the four star hotel, Steffani and serves specialties of the region. Secondo is another spot which is very stylish and elegant. Another good eating joint is the Marmite which is a swanky restaurant at the base of Piz Nair cable car which is above 8000 ft.

Skiers frequent this restaurant for lunch and on warm days the diners head towards the outdoor deck that has fur blankets and chars draped in fur. You can choose from their extensive range of truffles and caviar.

Attractions

 The National Park

This park is full of rich variety of flora and fauna such as butterflies, beetles, ants, fish, reptiles, amphibians, nesting birds, migratory and summer birds. The National Park gives you an opportunity to observe the wildlife and local wildgrowth from different angles.

Corvatsch Glacier

Experience this beautiful trip to the Corvatsch in a gondola which reaches you to the highest point in St. Moritz. The glacier has added to the charm of the mountain. The grotto is 140 meters in length with the age of the ice that is from hundred to thousand years based on the area that it has formed. An ice bar has been built inside the grotto for varied use on different occasions.

The Cresta Run

At the Cresta Run you can go tobogganing in a steel skeleton sled that travels at 80 mph. The Cresta is an ice run that winds from above the ‘The Leaning Tower’ to the Celerina village making its way down a sharp gully past the tiny village of Cresta.

Muottas Muragl

You can get the best view of the lake region of Upper Engadine from Muottas Muragl, a mountain with a panoramic view. You can take excursions to the mountain through the forest throughout the year and can also have some fun while toboganning

Corviglia Piz Nair Marguns

This area is famous for hiking and winter sports and is the only largest skiing area in the Engadine. You will find hundred kilometers of ski slopes that are well prepared and 14 mountain restaurants.

Health and wellness

The highest altitude mineral springs in Switzerland can be found in St. Moritz and has become a renowned haunt for healing due to its mineral springs. You can take some regular packages for pampering yourself such as sauna and bath, massages, aroma flower baths, counseling on nutrition, mineral water cures and also an Indian hair massage.


How to go to st. Moritz- Train, Rail, Air/Flights

You can take a Swiss Federal Railway to Chur. Once you reach Chur you need to change trains and shift to Rhaetian Railway to reach St Moritz. You will experience one of the most thrilling rides through viaducts on your way through Grisons all the way to Engadine. You can also opt for the route through the Vereina tunnel that will take three and a half hours to reach St. Moritz from Zurich.
