Lucerne attracts visitors because it has been able to preserve the old culture of the town which you should not miss. Discover Mount Pilatus to catch a view of the spectacular Alps with the help of the cogwheel railway or cable cars that operate all through the year. You can take a tour of Felsenweg either by boat, train, bus, funiculaire or on foot where you can see the beautiful lakes.

The Chapel Bridge is a landmark and the oldest wooden bridge of Europe. This wooden bridge was built in the 14 th century for protecting the city. You can also visit the Alpineum, the Bourbaki Panorama, The Glacier Garden and the Swiss Transport Museum. You should visit the Lido beach which is the halting point for boats that leave the central train station.

How to go there - Train, Rail, Air/Flights

By train

Reaching Lucerne from various other locations in the country is easy as you can avail the Swiss Federal Railway. You will always find trains every half an hour from Zurich and that from Olten and Zurich airport every hour. You can even board the direct train from Berne which leaves every hour though the departure times are more recurrent because of the connections.

By boat

Lucerne is situated on the northern end of Vierwaldstattersee whose waterways are one of the busiest in Switzerland and always humming with activity.

By Bus

You can use the efficient bus services of Lucerne to travel around the city and in the suburbs.

On Bicycle

You can hire bicycles at the central railway station at a cheap price. You can get the heavy built bikes with a 24 speed that has a baggage clamp for 31 CHF or even go for one of those electric ones, You will find bike lanes on minor streets and the drivers are courteous towards bikers.
