Swiss Gietro, Cascade du waterfalls |
Swiss The Gietro, Cascade du Waterfalls - Travel Guide - Tourist Information |
The Gietro, Cascade du is a tiered waterfall with a height of 1850 feet or 564 meters with an average width of 50 feet or 15 meters. These are continuously flowing waterfalls found in the Valais region. This fall is in the southwestern direction near the French border on one of the tributaries of Lac du Mauvoisin and is fed by a massive glacier.

These falls drop in series, each measuring to a height of 100 to 400 feet over less than half a mile stretch. These falls emerge from the toe of the glacier and plunge into the lake via the canyon. The water appears less in volume when coming out of the glacier from the enormous horsetail to the cascades at the falls’ lower ends. This could be due to the numerous large springs that are found all throughout the valley.
