Rapperswil Switzerland Tourism

Rapperswil Switzerland Tourism

Switzerland is a country that is known for its combination of natural beauty and modern development. The country is defined by the majestic Alps, the serene lakes, the deep forests, the picturesque villages and the hospitable friendly people. It is a pleasure to pay a visit to the country and enjoy all that it has to offer.
There is no dearth of things to do while visiting Switzerland as there is an abundance of tourist attractions and adventure sports to keep one occupied. The ski slopes of Switzerland are famous all over the world.
Other than scenic beauty Switzerland also has an abundance of natural history and culture. The cities of Switzerland are worth a visit because of their rich past and the culture that is associated with them.
Rapperswil is one such city that is a must-visit. The city is a powerful combination of beauty and culture. Rather than being an actual city, Rapperswil is more of a municipality that is located on the east side of Lake Zurich. Conveniently close to the city, Rapperswil is a rich mixture of all that you expect to find in Switzerland. The place has an identity of its own and a rich local flavor.
The sights to see in Rapperswil are many, the most famous of which are the Rose gardens. People come from far and near to get a glimpse of the famous Rose gardens and do not return disappointed. Truly a sight to behold, the smell of the roses will keep you enthralled and refuse to fade from memory.
Housing a large number of plants, the rose gardens are extensive and proudly display the marvelous collection of roses. The thoughtfulness of the municipality is reflected in the fact that there is an additional rose garden in the center of the city that is specially accessible to the blind or disabled.
The Rapperswil castle is another attraction that stands as a memorial to the country's rich past. The castle is said to date back to the early 13th century and was subsequently destroyed by the major Zurich only to be rebuilt later by the Duke of Austria. The old town has many such spots that are a piece of history and have witnessed the events which have made the city what it is.
There is a small monastery also perched atop a rocky hill. This is a haven of peace and worship and people often go there to find peace and serenity.
