Lugano Switzerland Tourism Guide

Lugano Switzerland Tourism Guide

Lugano is known as the Monte Carlo of Switzerland no for nothing! Why is it attracting so many important celebrities, sport stars amongst a host of multi-millionaires?

It is the 9th largest city in Switzerland and has a booming population of more than 150,000 people (by Switzerland standards)! The canton of Ticino that borders Italy is well known for its beautiful locations, warm and comfortable climate and recent flurry of celebs to book a plot here. The good climate is drawing in more people in the town of Lugano as infrastructure prices have shot up recently.

The demand from celebs has a lot to do with it. The place was earlier heavily forested but was cleared up little by little throughout its history and it stands as an urban conglomerate today. Like many places in Switzerland, this also derives its name from the lake that it borders - Lake Lugano. If there is any place that is urban in nature and provides a more or less good view of nature in Switzerland, it is Lugano without a doubt. Lago Maggiore and Lago di Como are lakes that are close by.

The region is still heavily forested with more than 21% of the region occupied by them and 10% of the region under agriculture.

Interesting Places You Cannot Do Without

The more said about Lugano as a tourist destination in Switzerland, the less it is. The presence of international film stars, important celebs and people of importance has made the place as one of the most luxurious places to come and visit in Switzerland. Blame it on the high profile tourists, those travelling on a shoestring budget will find it hard to adjust in this city. Hotels have taken the city by storm as major share of the economy is due to its tourism base.

Mountain Biking, Nature Trails and Sailing on the Lakes are the nature vistas that you can visit and experience. So gladdened are some tourists by this whole feel, that they are quick to quip that it is the best places in Switzerland. Throughout the year, the place is teeming with tourists and hence the industry is developed keeping the tourists in mind.

Connectivity and Transportation

A2 motorway, E35 route and other rail and air links have covered the city well enough to ensure free movement and urban transportation.

Where to Stay?

Lugano is one of the rare places in Switzerland where you can stay with as much luxury as you want to and also for those who are on a low budget. Finding hotels will never be a problem in this tourist-centered place!
